My little girl. My amazing and affectionate little girl turned 3 today! She came down with the stomach flu and a slight fever a few days ago and has recovered in time for her birthday, which she has been looking forward to celebrating. She has been straightforward about what she wants and postponing 2 and 3 on her list is the right thing to do, as she can be contagious for a few more days after recovery. Here’s her wish list:

No Cake this year, just pink Cupcakes

I am blessed to be the one she calls “Mom”. I feel tremendously blessed to have a beautiful, healthy, smart and happy daughter that the Lord has blessed me with. Even though I birthed her, I know she belongs to the Lord and I am eternally grateful that He would trust me with her life. I hope I can live up to some of His expectations.

For her third birthday, we added a lot more to her Strawberry Shortcake collection by bringing in some gorgeous vintage dolls and accessories. She loved them all, but not as much as she loved her Just Like Home 40 Piece Pearlized Tea Set which we bought from Toys”R”Us®. We got something for big Brother too, who was so helpful in planning the surprise and doing the countdown. The party has been postponed …

We were blessed with a beautiful, warm and peaceful day; filled with love, laughter, gifts, loving memories and lots of hugs and kisses. Everyone is grateful and content. There will be some storytelling in a little while and then we will watch movies for the rest of the night. Today is a good day.

Beautiful Cloudy Day

I have never liked cloudy days. Today, however, I am content with the dreary weather.
We are spending the afternoon in the Patio. The kids are multi-tasking (watching TV, drawing, Crafting and writing me letters full of hearts). My daughter is busy looking at the Toys R Us toy book and making a list of all the items she wants for her birthday. Oh, the joy of Motherhood! I love my babies to pieces.

Today was Parent Conference day at my son’s school and we met with his wonderful teacher. She told us what we already knew, that he is Academically Advanced. The drawback of him knowing so much at his age is that he easily gets bored, wants to help everyone around him and doesn’t always follow directions when asked to. I will work harder at encouraging him to listen more and allow others to do what they need to do.

In an effort to prevent broken pipelines due to aging and sudden burst, the City’s Water Pipeline Division has been carrying out water main upgrades by replacing water mains and hydrants to upgrade existing deteriorating water mains. Today was our turn and it was interesting watching these hard working men complete the task.

I am off to work on our next Craft. I will share, I promise.

Snowman Decorating Project

Today we worked on our third Family project for my Son’s assignment and it was a fun Family affair.
I gathered all the tools and materials necessary to complete the project (scissors, scrapbook papers, hole puncher, crayons, paper bits and Elmer’s glue) while my little guy was busy writing the last entry of the week activities in his school journal. He wanted the Snowman to have matching beanie hat, scarf, gloves and boots. I opened my hole puncher collection area and collected the bits from the punched papers, which we used for the Snowman’s eyes, mouth and buttons for his rather large coat. We tried to keep it clean and simple as possible.

Today he received his fourth Pizza Hut® Book It!® Reading Program Certificate to celebrate another reading accomplishment. He is moving on to list nine of his sight words (though he can pretty much read anything). I ordered a bunch of books for them a few days ago. I can’t be more proud of my little boy! ♥

Back To School Routine

Today is officially back to School Day at Cottonwood Elementary. For my Kindergartener as well as the other students, it will be the first day back from a three-week break. We had a fantastic time being silly, getting crafty, watching movies, sleeping late, baking, enjoying each others company and fighting a Cold together.

My Son is super excited to meet his wonderful teacher and friends and I am excited to hear about his little stories and all the fun activities he had at School. His Sister, on the other hand, is not too happy about him returning to school (I overheard them talking in the room last night). After informing her that he will be leaving for school in the morning, she simply told him that ‘she is sad, she will miss him and she doesn’t want him to go to school.’ He replied by stating that he had to go and when he returns home, they will have lots and lots of fun.

My kids believe they are the best thing in the World for one another. As troublesome as they can sometimes be and as annoying as they can be to one another, they always look out for each other and keep safe. Enough to melt my heart and make me proud. My daughter and I will be enjoying more quiet time in the mornings.

Last night, after reminding my Son about the importance of eating right, exercising, taking vitamins, getting enough sleep and keeping his hands to himself (to fight against self-contamination and prevent germs from spreading); I made sure he still had enough pocket tissues, enough cough and cold drops and I made sure there was a travel size hand sanitizer in his backpack. This season has been labeled the worst Flu season in years and parents shouldn’t take it lightly when it comes to the health and wellness of their children.

A Cousin’s Gifts

What a day! We’ve been running errands all morning (from mailing gifts to visiting Vintage shops and everything in between). We stopped by Lowe’s®, where I picked up a pair of Christmas Stockings, some plants, bulbs and a few Barrel Planters. We made a quick stop at Kohl’s® to get the last items on our Christmas decoration list.

As I went to check the mails after unloading the plants from the car, I found a large package waiting for me in the mailbox. By its weight and without looking at the senders address; I knew it was the gifts from my niece to her little cousins. While my Mom was visiting with them in France early this month, she promised to send Books, CDs and other souvenirs to her cousins. These are just a few of them. My son was so excited that he started reading. He has been anxious to read the stories even though they are written in French. Starting tomorrow, we will pick up where we left off and I am confident that he will be fluent in French in no time.
