Last weekend, I walked into a Vintage store and was taken aback by the use of an old box spring. There were two actually; one was used as a wall accent and the other as a ceiling light.

That got me thinking about the endless possibilities of an old box spring mattress: holders,  storage, wall accent and decor, gates and fences, trellises, garden swings, yard arts, centerpieces, ceiling light fixtures, room dividers, and so much more.

Shabby Chic Wall Candle Holder

What a lovely day and an awesome weather we are having here in the High Desert. I was outside earlier bringing in the trash can and I stopped for a moment and admired my garden. The plants are thriving and blossoming with beautiful, bright, colorful flowers and the bees are actively pollinating. If I owned a Hammock Chair, this would have been the ideal time to sit and relax in the mist of these beauties. Nature never ceases to amaze me.

On a much happier note, I finally found some time to get around decorating my Shabby Chic Wrought Iron Wall Candle Holder with prisms. After almost a year of having it around and locating a few prism I had stored around the house, I can proudly say that I am close to finishing my little project.

I bought the Shabby Chic Wall Candle Holder at the Carriage House Antiques in Hesperia, CA last year while visiting the shop. I am a huge believer that with patience and determination we can turn ugly into fancy.

One thing I came to realize with Cherubs is that the more you have, the more you want. I have a few around my house which I absolutely love. They are so adorable and they give me a sense of security and peace.

By now you should know how much I love Cherubs, especially when they scream ‘Vintage or Antique’. Though not a recent find, this Vintage Cherub Wall Sconce is our most recent Cherub acquisition. We bought it last year at the Blue Goose Antiques (currently known as The Cottage Warehouse) and stored it in the garage with a few more items. It wasn’t until a couple of months ago that we finally pulled the pair out.

Cherubs! I love Cherubs and their angelic faces. I have them indoors, outdoors and they add so much charm to any room decor. From candle holders to water fountain, you name it – they tend to give us a sense of assurance and security.

For me, personally, it’s more of a reminder that my Creator is always by my side.

While visiting a nearby Antique Shop this afternoon, my husband walked to the back of the store, saw this gorgeous Vintage cherub candle holder and bought it for me.

The candle on the holder is ‘Vanilla Cream’, scented.

Last year we purchased this beautiful Vintage Carved Stone Pillar from the same store.

When shopping for vintage and antique, I am not so much interested about the age of a furniture, art, jewelry, etc! (though it matters), For me it’s all about the uniqueness of a piece and how gracefully it stands out from the rest.

The details on this carved stone pillar are amazing and breathtaking!

Redlands Galleria

Today, after little deliberation we decided to start exploring the east side of the 15 freeway and all that it offers. A simple search gave us a list of Antique Shops and considering the drive, it seemed very reasonable of an adventure into the unknown. Located in the Historic Downtown of Redlands, this Shop is a beauty of its own. With four levels of shopping (each one of which is filled with gorgeous items), Redlands Galleria focuses on Antiques, Collectibles and  fine Gifts.

We were told last year, by a couple of local vendors that Redlands, CA is the place to go for great Antiques and Vintage finds (Pomona, CA and Crestline, CA, Included). We didn’t have something special plan for today and after waking up to a lovely and warm day, we realized it was the perfect opportunity to go our there and explore. Our course was set for the city of Redlands. We had a wonderful drive to and fro and what a sight of our beautiful San Bernardino Mountains. Road trips are truly the best (for us, at least).

We took our time checking each level of the shop. Truth is, we wanted to buy everything. So many beautiful things! In the end, I spotted a Vintage Carousel Horse with Vintage Crystal Cut Glass Column and Holder, just stunning (Ceramic horse, Wood base, Metal rod, Crystal Cut Glass and a nickel plated brass Canopy). The sculpture is mounted on an oblong wood base. I am grateful for a good find and a good day.

If you are looking for Antiques, Vintage and other Collectibles items, you should definitely visit this shop. It’s huge, it’s inviting, it’s structured and the items are reasonably priced.

I spent most of the day sleeping and daydreaming. Good thing my kids had their Dad home today to attend to their needs while I was getting some much needed rest. I woke up just in time to get ready and go treasure hunting with the family. We made a quick stop at Toys “R” Us to find a part for, and to get an opinion on a gift we ordered for our daughter’s upcoming birthday. We also picked up something she really wants.

We then headed to Kohl’s early this evening looking at lovelies where we spent 30 minutes. I am so fond of Elle Decor and I picked up a beautiful decorative bird which was on clearance and the price was just right. Truth is, I have been waiting for this Bird to go on sale and it turned out that today was my lucky day as it was the last one in the store. Prior to exiting the store, I stock pile on Yankee Candle® simply home™ Bamboo Electric Home Fragrancer refills (Personally, I think the Bamboo fragrance is the best. It’s refreshing, relaxing, inviting and it soothes the senses as every breath you take is enjoyable).

As you can imagine, I was all smiles. Such a beautiful find.

Diner was light tonight and I decided to skip my glass of wine for tomorrow. My bundles of joy are sound asleep, which means my husband and I can finally watch all the movies we’ve been wanting to watch. If the weather permits, I will be gardening tomorrow morning or we will be adventurous enough to visit a new Antique Shop.
